Church Hall

Our long established Church Hall nursery is set in a village location and offers breakfast from 8.00am for pre-school and nursery children. This service is also available to reception and year one children at Astwood Bank Primary School if required. 

Our room offers children a large open expanse enabling all age groups to mix and play together throughout the day.  The whole room is accessible to all children which promotes independence and free choice throughout the day.  We create a cosy and welcoming environment for all children in our care and have the luxury of being able to change the layout of our equipment to meet the changing needs of the children as required.  At times, younger children in our care need to sleep or have ‘quiet time’ and this is easily accommodated within our room.  The extensive space in our main hall is complimented by an adjoining smaller room which is used daily as a quieter space for small group work, story groups, 1 – 1 time with children, doubling up as a convenient meeting space for staff to meet with parents/carers to discuss progress and celebrate children’s achievements regularly. 

Our outdoor area is situated to the rear of the Church next to our building and consists of a grassed area bordering a small woodland space made up of large conifer trees, the branches of which provide cosy dens and climbing opportunities for the children.

As we are situated next door to Astwood Bank Primary School we benefit from easy access to their Forest School area where our children get the opportunity to experience the natural world combined with adult-led learning opportunities.

Inside and out the children learn through their play each day but adults tailor the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum to include the children’s voices and reflect their interests.  We are pleased to have long serving, qualified, well experienced staff working alongside the children and in partnership with parents to address the individual needs of all children in our care. Safeguarding and security are at the top of our agenda daily and all staff constantly update their knowledge as required.

Many of our children come to us because their older siblings have spent their early years with us too.  Over the years we have built a good reputation and come highly recommended by previous families.  We consider ourselves to be family orientated always providing a personal touch and we welcome visits to our nursery to show you around.
